50-up - and Harry's aiming higher

One of the many secrets of Harry Kane's success is his drive to always do better - and that's not changing after going past the 50-goal mark for Club and country in 2017.

The striker hit his half-century with a double strike in our impressive 5-1 win against Stoke on Saturday.

The breakdown is 43 goals for Spurs and seven for England - 21 of those goals between January and May helped him retain the Premier League's Golden Boot.

He's also hot on the heels of Alan Shearer's record of 36 Premier League goals in a calendar year with three matches remaining - City on Saturday, Burnley on December 23 and Southampton on Boxing Day.

But the phrase 'rest on your laurels' doesn't exist in Harry's vocabularly.

"It’s been a good year, still a few games to go but, as always, I hope 2018 will be even better," said Harry this week.

"Hopefully I'll score more goals and just keep getting better. I feel good, I feel sharp and as a team we're confident. We're just looking to take that into every game one game at a time, step by step."

Mauricio Pochettino described Harry's half-century this year as a 'massive achievement'.

He said: "I’m happy because Harry helps the team achieve the things we want, collective things and then of course we congratulate him, he's a fantastic player."
