I said 'one day, one will end up in the back of the net' - Victor and Harry on Anfield draw
Mon 05 February 2018, 12:15|Tottenham Hotspur
Victor Wanyama didn't give up - and reaped the rewards in spectacular fashion at Anfield on Sunday.
Harry Kane pointed out post-match that the players had pulled Victor's leg recently after a couple of shall we say 'wayward' shots.
"He's had a few shots in recent games and they've ended up near the corner flag so we told him not to shoot," said Harry.
How times quickly change in football.
Less than an minute after entering the fray and with us pushing for an equaliser, Victor hammered home a goal that will go down in Spurs folklore, a piledriver that flew like an arrow into the top corner in front of the Kop.
"He's proved us wrong!" said Harry afterwards. "Fair play to him, he stuck it to us today. He's produced one of the best strikes I've seen. I probably haven't scored a better one than that to be fair!"

Victor's goal made it 1-1 and gave us the belief to go a step further and look for the win.
The last 10 minutes were a whirlwind. Harry had a penalty saved on 85 minutes, Mo Salah scored a solo to make it 2-1 on 91 minutes only for Harry to bury a second spot-kick on 95 minutes, his 100th goal in the Premier League.
Here's what Victor and Harry had to say afterwards...

On his goal...
"I've had a couple of shots when I've come on and the lads haven't been happy with me and said I should stop shooting. I said 'I will continue shooting and one day, one will end up in the back of the net'. That day was today. I'm really glad. You can shoot like that 100 times and maybe never score once, so I'm happy to score this time and help the team."

On the game...
"It's a difficult place to play, they give us a tough time but as the game went on we got better and showed what we can do. It was a strange end to the game, we put a lot of pressure on them, they got one ball forward and scored so we were down 2-1 then arry stepped up again and scored the penalty. I said for Harry to miss for a second time is impossible."

General thoughts...
"I thought in the first half it was a shame we went behind so early but I actually thought we played okay. We didn't create as many chances as we wanted, we kept the ball well, we just needed to play between the lines and we did that in the second half. We created more chances, should have got back into the game earlier and then Wanyama scored a wonder strike and we should have gone on and won it - if I'd scored the first penalty, maybe we would have. Then we went 2-1 behind but showed real character to get something out of the game. To draw away at Anfield is never a bad thing."

On reaching 100 Premier League goals...
"Let's just keep them coming. I said before the start of the season I wanted to get to 100 Premier League goals, I'm here earlier than I thought SO I'll keep going and see how many I can get."
