Harry Redknapp expects the New York Red Bulls to throw down the gauntlet as we open the Barclays New York Challenge tonight.

We take on the New York Red Bulls at the impressive Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey.

The match kicks-off at 8.30pm local time - that's 1.30am on Friday morning in the UK.

The Red Bulls have just unveiled our old foe Thierry Henry as their latest signing and he joins the likes of former Villa striker Juan Pablo Angel and Welsh international Carl Robinson as familair names back in England.

They are also coached by former FC Copenhagan boss and Manchester City assistant Hans Backe.

We also take on Portugese giants Sporting Lisbon in the tournament on Sunday (1pm local time, 6pm UK) with City completing the line-up.

"These are good teams we are competing against," said Harry. "It's great prepartion for the season for us and we are very much looking forward to it.

"I am sure the game will be very competitive, the stadium looks absolutely fantastic and we are ready to go.

"We don't know too much about the Red Bulls. Thierry Henry we know very well and Angel we know well and Carl Robinson, but we are just preparing our own game and getting ready for our season."

Harry has been delighted with the training camp so far after a week in San Jose, California.

"The boys have worked hard, I think they have all enjoyed the trip.

"California was fantastic and now to be here in New York and to play in this great stadium, it is a fantastic experience for the players.

"We have a lot of young players here as well and this is a great opportunity for them to impress me on the trip and show what they can do."
