The initiative has provided over 1,000 children in three local schools to receive four hours of curriculum coaching from our FA qualified coaches every week. The schools involved - St Paul's and All Hallows Infants and Juniors, Lea Valley and Northumberland Park - are all based within the vicinity of the Club.
Many of the pupils have never received professional coaching and the programme helps to fulfill our aim of increasing the number of children who access quality coaching. The children also benefit from gaining social and personal skills and because our FITC coaches visit the schools, it is more economical than having to spend funds on transporting children and teachers away from the school day.
The programme has been so well received by the schools and children that it was extended into other age groups in the schools on a rotation basis. We would like to thank Haringey SRB for all of their support in creating this initiative.
Following recent published research reporting the decline in children's physical activity levels over the last 10 years, the Club's Football in the Community and SRB have organised an extensive network of coaching programmes to raise young people's interest and achievement in physical well being.
