The coaching programme is being offered to pupils in year 6 at the following local schools: St Mary’s RC Junior, Stamford Hill Junior, Tiverton Primary, St Ignatius RC Primary and Seven Sisters Primary.
Coaching will take place from February 25 to March 1 and will include an end-of-week tournament where the best teams will compete to win a trophy.
Each school will have two hours of football training followed by a 30-minute discussion about problems they may encounter at school, for example bullying.
The discussion will be taken by Metropolitan Police School Liaison Officers.
The NDC initiated programme will enable young people in the area to be coached by first-class trainers and to gain a greater knowledge of the game.
The week will help to develop a number of useful ‘life’ skills, including the ability to work as part of a team, social skills and confidence, and the ‘Citizenship Input’ provided by the schools officers will prove to be thought-provoking and interesting.
Primary schools in the New Deals for Communities area are being offered the chance to train at White Hart Lane.
