Steffen made his long-awaited first team return after eight months out with cruciate ligament damage, while Mauricio has been suffering with a groin injury.
Our midfield enforcer was back patrolling the central areas of the pitch and offered his usual security in front of the back line before being replaced with only five minutes left on the clock.
"Excellent," said Glenn on Steffen's return. "The boy probably needed more reserve games, but we're in a bit of a hole. I had a good chat with him, and Tano, and they put the team first rather than their own injuries and comebacks.
"Both of them played really well and played their part, Tano made the goal for us and Steffen was absolutely superb for us in that midfield.
"You wouldn't think he'd been away. He was winning tackles, showed enthusiasm, kept the ball and chased the ball no end.
"We'll give him a couple of days off after that I think! It's been a long time out for him."
Mauricio limped off after 65 minutes suffering from cramp and the team thankfully came through without further entries on the injury list.
"We've come through relatively unscathed, which is very good news. I was worried, I thought Tano might have done his groin on the far side but it was a bit of cramp, which he suffers with when he hasn't played for a little while.
"I was thankful for that because he put himself out there for us tonight and I'm delighted it's just cramp. A massage and warm-down tomorrow along with a bit of rest and he'll be okay."
Glenn Hoddle paid tribute to Steffen Freund and Mauricio Taricco after the Worthington Cup win over Cardiff and said they both put the team first.
