Ledley was delighted to be back in action and it reminded him of what he has been missing over the last six months.
He said: “It felt great and it was a big relief to be back playing. The reception I got was fantastic and it helped me to settle into the game.
“I’d been itching for that moment for months, but it doesn’t just come as easy as that. After being out for so long you have to take your time and not rush back, because it would be silly to break down after doing so.
“I’ve had to bide my time and wait for the right moment, but having spoken to the management, we decided Boxing Day was right.
“I feel fine after the game. You have to get used to the pace of the game and you’ll take your little knocks and bumps, but even that’s something you miss. It’s not the same physical game in training.”
Now the skipper is already looking ahead to our next game at home to Reading on Saturday, and hopes we can take Boxing Day’s form into the clash.
Leds added: “We’ve been on a good run and we want to keep that going, especially at home. Coming off the back of a 5-1 win we’ll be very confident going into the game, but we have to do things right if we want to get the result.”
Ledley King was overwhelmed by the reception he received from our fans as he made his long-awaited comeback from injury against Fulham on Boxing Day.
