"It was great to be back out there for me personally but the most important thing was to win and play well and we did that," reflected Simon.
"We all wanted a good performance and we've now got to follow it up and take it into the league."
Simon said the team's display made it 'the ideal scenario' for him to step back onto the main stage.
"We were in control and it was ideal for me to feel my way back in," he added. "I was lucky the lads played well because it made it easier for me.
"The fans gave me a great reception and I was delighted to be involved. It's been a long time.
"I feel fine and I've got to keep it going now, continue with my rehab and try and get back to full match fitness."
Simon Davies was happy to put the team's fine display against Palace ahead of the personal satisfaction of finally returning to action after injury.
