The midfielder provided the assist as Emmanuel Adebayor opened the scoring on 29 minutes before Roberto Soldado’s looping header doubled the lead on 66 minutes.
Ex-Spur Kevin Prince Boateng pulled a goal back 10 minutes from time but we completed an unbeaten pre-season schedule in front of 34,730 at the Lane.
Lewis completed another 84 minutes and might have opened the scoring himself but for a point-blank save from Ralf Fahrmann, the Schalke goalkeeper in fine form to also deny Andros Townsend, Cristian Ceballos and Sandro in the second half.
“I really enjoyed playing against my old team,” he said. “Schalke came here with a young team, a good team and it was a very good test for us.
“We showed some good football, went through their back line and created chances, I had one before the first goal and we’re very pleased, we could have scored more and it was a good test before next week’s big London clash at Upton Park.”
Lewis, who scored our first goal of the summer in Seattle, formed part of dynamic midfield unit as Mauricio Pochettino started with Nabil Bentaleb, Erik Lamela, Aaron Lennon and Christian Eriksen in the first half with Andros adding his pace and direct style to real affect in the second half.
“We’re trying to force a pressing game and we have the players for that, very quick players like Azza, Christian, Ade as well, they made some great runs and made it easier for us,” added Lewis.
