The German international completed a second 90-minute stint in eight days in the reserves' 3-3 draw against Watford.
He has been out for 10 months with a serious thigh injury originally sustained on Boxing Day last year, a spell interrupted by a brief comeback at the end of last season that continued into pre-season before he broke down again.
He's looked in fine fettle in the last couple of weeks and insisted: "I'm just happy I can play.
"I've played a couple of 60, 70 minutes and now I've played two 90-minute games without any problems.
"It's nice after being out for 10 months to be able to play 90 minutes, pushing on at the end and using the left foot how it used to be.
"Like I said, in the past 10 months there were times I was thinking it wouldn't be possible to use the leg again in the same manner but I'm just happy now, I'm playing football, I'm on the pitch and that means everything to me.
"I'm training well and I'm desperate to play in the first team again. I've played five games, two 90 minutes, I'm training every day and I feel alright, that's the main thing."
Christian Ziege admitted he's just happy to be playing again after continuing his comeback from injury last night.
