Twenty years on, Hans will face his first professional team in our friendly against the Dutch champions on August 3.

Inspired by the likes of Johan Cruyff, Ruud Krol, Johnny Rep, Johan Neeskens and the van der Kerkhof brothers Holland were runners-up in the World Cups of 1974 and 1978.
"For me, to join PSV Eindhoven was a dream come true," recalled Hans. "At that time they were one of the top clubs in Holland - they still are, of course - but to get in the squad was very tough because they were full of top, international players like Willy and Rene van der Kerkhof.
"When I signed that contract, my first contract, it was very special. I also came from Eindhoven, so it was a big thing for me. I had a great time and when I look back, I have great memories.
"Football in Holland at the time was buzzing. The national team finished runners-up twice in the World Cup and our clubs did very well in European competition.
"In fact, I made my debut in Europe. It was a very good time to be there."
Hans moved to Nottingham Forest in 1984 before an eight-year stint at Wimbledon and eventually onto coaching duties at Spurs in 1998.
But PSV were never far from his thoughts - no wonder then that he's looking forward to our White Hart Lane date.
"In the last few years when I was playing if I had a break, I would always go back to PSV for some training sessions," he said. "It is my club in Holland.
"PSV always brings back good memories for me even though you're talking 25 years ago for me.
"I can't wait for this friendly. I still know a few faces there and it will be a special game for me."
