Dorian Dervite said he did make contact with Tom Huddlestone's free-kick that resulted in the equaliser against Port Vale - but only with a few hairs!

On first viewing of the goal, it did appear that the Frenchman making his First Team debut for the Club, connected with the midfielders dipping set piece and diverted the ball past goalkeeper Mark Goodlad. Replays suggested otherwise and Tom was credited with his opening goal in our colours.

The 18-year-old joked that he should claim a percentage of the plaudits.

"It was just my hair that touched the ball so maybe it was half a goal for me!" laughed the central defender who was recruited from Lille during the close season. He added that his call-up for the game was not one he anticipated so soon.

"I didn't imagine playing so early for the first team, but it was a good game and I am very happy to have been involved.

"It was a very good atmosphere, I know at Tottenham that the stadium is always full for games and I don't know many other places where it is like that. It made it a very good night.

"It was a very good experience and I hope to play with the first team more, but to do that I must work very hard every day."
