The Iceland midfielder admitted to a tough start to last term after joining us from Hoffenheim but hit form in the second half of the season.
That included a run of five goals in his final 15 appearances, including crucial strikes in the Premier League against West Ham, Everton and Chelsea.
That mirrored the team’s form of just two defeats in our last 22 Premier League outings as we put together a record points total of 72 in finishing fifth.
“Things started falling into place and working better for me in the second half of the season,” said Gylfi.
“Hopefully that will continue into next season.
“We only lost two out of the last 22 and we need to make sure we’re ready for the first few games, look to start well and continue in the form we ended last season.
“We want to get off to a positive start. That’s important for us.”
