The midfielder was in fine form as we toppled Tromso in the Europa League on Thursday night, going closest in a goalless first half before providing the assists for both of our goals as we ran out 2-0 winners.
That got us back to winning ways after Sunday’s heavy loss at City and Gylfi is looking for us to step up again as we face the champions at the Lane at midday.
“United have fantastic players but we’re back at home and we're after the three points,” said the Iceland international.
“We’ll need to play at the top of our game to do that but everyone is determined to put on a performance.
“We beat United at Old Trafford last season and drew at home, so we know we’re capable.”
Gylfi has been in fine form but admitted it was difficult to talk about personal performances when results aren’t going the right way. “We’ve lost a couple of games and you really only focus on the team,” he added.
“Hopefully we can continue doing what we did against Tromso and score a few goals on Sunday. We need to bounce back and give the fans what they deserve.
“Personally, I just hope I can continue to play well and score a few more goals.”
