A positive result this weekend would see us remain unbeaten since October’s international break heading into next week’s pause in the domestic calendar.

We’re currently perched in fourth place – level on 20 points with second placed Chelsea and Liverpool in third – with Manchester City, Southampton and Everton all on 19 ahead of the weekend's action.

And as we get set to welcome Newcastle United – currently ninth with 14 points – to the Lane, Icelandic international Gylfi says it’s important to keep our domestic tally ticking over in order to remain in the upper reaches of the standings.

“We always want to win at home and we want to win away as well,” he enthused. “It’s important after the draw against Everton that we continue to pick up points.

“As long as we’re in the top four we’re quite happy. We want to be in there at the end of the season and we just need to keep winning games and keep picking up three points.”
