Our First Team Coach says the streets around White Hart Lane were packed and full of atmosphere over an hour before kick-off.
Gus feels this inspired the players and their belief in beating Arsenal for the first time in nine years and reaching the Carling Cup final at Wembley.
He recalls: “We left the hotel on time but we were very unlucky with the traffic, but that helped us.
“We were probably about ten minutes late, but the approach to White Hart Lane was unbelievable, and the crowds when they saw the bus were magnificent.
“I don’t know if the players were tense or nervous before then, but after seeing that, they were ready.
“We were sure that we were ready because we were better than Arsenal in two recent games at the Emirates, but we didn’t win, so it was just about turning the performances into a win. You can see the result now.”

But now Gus insists the celebrations are over and the team are fully focused on another intriguing cup tie away at Manchester United in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday.
He feels a win here will be the perfect way to prove Tuesday night’s success wasn’t just a one-off.
He added: “This will be a massive game for us but we’re full of confidence and we’re not worried. We’ve enjoyed the celebrations but now we’re focused.
“Sometimes you need to play another game as quickly as possible, and we need to forget about Arsenal because it’s going to be another excellent game to prove the level we can play at, whether home or away.”
