Gus Poyet hopes we can build on recent good performances at Old Trafford to defeat Manchester United in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday. Two narrow league defeats in the last two seasons at the Theatre of Dreams have shown we have what it takes to challenge the current champions of England.

And with a large contingent of travelling fans expected to make the trip, our first team coach insists the players will do everything possible to make their journey worthwhile.

Gus said: “We’re looking forward to the game because of what it means and we usually play well at Old Trafford, even though we don’t usually win.

“It’s another part of history we have to change. We have to go there, perform and win the game because we don’t want to be out of the FA Cup – we want to go all the way.

“When we look to the stands we’ll see more Spurs supporters at Old Trafford than ever before, but the only way to stay in the cup is to fight until the end and win the game.

“We know what we’re capable of, but we have to stop Manchester United from playing because they are very dangerous and they have quality all over the pitch.

“It will be a team job and most of it will come down to how we keep the ball and control the game.

“If we play an open game, it will be very difficult because they have the quality to hurt any opposition, but we usually go there and put on a good performance.”
