Gus headed north across London last summer after electing to end his connections with Chelsea and found a warm welcome at White Hart Lane. He responded to regular first team football by scoring 14 goals in 41 starts from midfield.
"It was magnificent, with the help of everybody here at Spurs Lodge and White Hart Lane," purred Gus. "The staff, the players - especially Tano - and it was quite alright.
"Also because the group is magnificent. When you have a group like you've got here, you can lead your normal life because the people here are so nice."
Gus says he is happy with his goals output during the season but regrets that a place in European competition was not secured.
"I think it was alright. I'm saying, even if you look at the numbers, of the goals I've scored it is quite good - but I am always looking at the team first.
"Because we didn't win the cup, and we didn't get the sixth position in the Premiership to play in Europe next season, I say it was alright, just alright."
Gus Poyet descibed his arrival and settling in process at Spurs as 'magnificent' when he looked back at his first season at the club.
