Gus, Goran in squad

Posted on 13 July 2001  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Gustavo Poyet and Goran Bunjevcevic are expected to make their debuts in our first pre-season friendly against Stevenage Borough tonight.

Our summer recruits have been named in a squad of 22 for the match against the Nationwide Conference outfit at Broadhall Way (7.45pm).

Midfielder Gus has been with the squad throughout pre-season training but Goran’s inclusion is an added bonus for fans after he only arrived earlier this week.

More encouraging news sees Darren Anderton back in the squad for the first time since February and Mauricio Taricco preparing for his first taste of first-team action since September.

Steffen Iversen is also back after a serious bout of concussion at the end of last season and Steffen Freund returns after knee surgery in April.

However, the internationals who were still in action in June and only returned to training this week — Teddy Sheringham, Sergei Rebrov, Stephen Carr, Gary Doherty, Oyvind Leonhardsen and Luke Young — will not take part.

Boss Glenn Hoddle has indicated that he intends to give every player a run out with no-one playing more than 45 minutes — so expect two different sides to play in each half.

Squad: Sullivan, Kelly, Taricco, Perry, Bunjevcevic, Thelwell, Hillier, Toner, Jackson, Piercy, Etherington, Anderton, Freund, Sherwood, Consorti, Davies, Clemence, Poyet, Ferguson, Ferdinand, Iversen, Kamanan.

Stevenage have announced that tickets, standing only, will be available on the night priced £10 (adults)/£8 (concessions).
