Chris Gunter has had a close look at Watford this season and expects a real test as we battle for a place in the semi-finals of the Carling Cup at Vicarage Road tonight.
The defender played against the Hornets for Cardiff City at the start of last season before his January switch to the Lane and was back at Vicarage Road this time to watch his former team-mates in a Championship clash in October.
Chris' opinion on the Hornets hasn't changed despite a few changes at the Hertfordshire side in the time that he played and then watched them, including the recent apppointment of Brendan Rodgers as manager.
"I played them early last season when I was at Cardiff and they were flying at that time," he recalled. "They'd just come down from the Premier League and had a lot of good players.
"I went back there earlier this season for a little scouting mission!
"They went 2-0 up that night, had a man sent off and then Cardiff came back into it and should have won but it ended 2-2.
"Watford have a lot of good players, good wingers and big strikers who they like to get the ball into early. They make a lot of chances.
"Everyone expects us to win and it's a great chance for us to get into the semi-finals of the competition but they will be up for it as well. They'll think 'we're at home and it's a chance for us', so it will be tough."
