Chris Gunter describes his first six months at Spurs as a ‘brilliant experience' as the young Welshman continues to settle into life at The Lane since his January move from Cardiff City.
The 18-year-old defender admits he did not know what to expect on joining a Barclays Premier League club with only a year of Championship experience under his belt.
But after making his first-team debut in the FA Cup at Reading in January and then his league debut at Everton later that month, Chris realised he was living a dream.
He said: "It's been brilliant. I was really excited when the move was going through and, since arriving, it's been everything I wanted it to be.
"I didn't know what to expect because moving away from Wales to London as an 18-year-old is not something everyone does.
"But I'm lucky that I live only two minutes away from the training ground and I settled in really quickly. You get to know the boys and the staff better as time goes on, and I've found all that quite easy.
"My aim is always to play - you wouldn't be a footballer otherwise - but I was on the bench against Chelsea away after my first week and things like that are fantastic for me as an 18-year-old.
"I also came off the bench at Old Trafford and made my Premier League debut at Everton. When I arrived I didn't know what to expect in terms of playing, so to be chucked in that early was a brilliant experience for me."
Looking ahead to next season, he added: "I was in a similar position at Cardiff this time last year, wanting to come back in pre-season and really kick on. Thankfully I did that at Cardiff and that's what I want to do here, come back fit and ready and put myself in the Head Coach's mind."
