Gulls in Worthington Cup

Posted on 25 August 2001  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

We have been drawn at home to Third Division side Torquay in the second round of the Worthington Cup.

Torquay, who avoided relegation to the Conference on the last day of last season, will no doubt relish the trip to White Hart Lane.

The draw has thrown up a sprinkling of possible cup shocks along with a South Coast derby between Brighton and Southampton.

Big spending Third Division side Hull City will travel to Derby County and will fancy their chances at Pride Park, as will Brentford at St James' Park where they will face Newcastle United.

Last year's beaten finalists, Birmingham City travel west to face Bristol Rovers whilst High-flying Fulham have to travel to face Rochdale, whilst the team they beat in midweek, Sunderland, face a tricky tie, having to go to Hillsborough where Sheffield Wednesday will play hosts.
