Jermaine Jenas doesn’t hesitate when describing the quality of the squad now assembled at Spurs.
The latest addition is Steven Pienaar, the South African international and former Ajax and Borussia Dortmund midfielder snapped up from Everton this week.
“It’s the best squad of players we’ve had since I’ve been here,” said the midfielder, who at five-and-a-half-years is one of the longest-serving players at the club.
JJ has been part of successive fifth-place finishes in 2006 and 2007, a League Cup win in 2008, last season's fourth place and Champions League qualification since joining us from Newcastle in August, 2005.
Along the way, he's has racked up almost 200 appearances. "As a club, we’re in a in a great place at the moment,” he said.
“The level of training has gone up 10-fold, the intensity, the competition for places, everything is at such a high level.
"If we want to be anywhere near the top of the league these are the players we need to have and the attitude we need to have.
"The lads are so up for it and as a club, there is a good, good feeling here at the moment.”
