MLS 15 - grassroots work begins in Denver

Posted on 27 July 2015  - 18:32

Our Global Coaching team has begun its work with local young players in Denver ahead of Wednesday’s MLS All-Stars match.

As part of our continued aim to develop the game at grassroots level throughout the world using the Club’s unique coaching philosophy, the Global Coaching team has been in Denver since the weekend and will be delivering coaching clinics throughout the First Team’s visit.

On Monday morning, our team of coaches were working alongside Under Armour, our Technical Partner, to offer a unique Tottenham Hotspur coaching experience to a group of local youngsters from Broomfield Soccer Club.

The session was supported by Ledley King, our former captain and Club Ambassador, who helped select the most impressive players from the session to be rewarded with tickets for Wednesday’s match.

Ledley said: “It is always a pleasure to travel with the Club across the world and great to see the fantastic work that is delivered at grassroots level with local youngsters, no matter where we go.

“Our Global Coaching team does a great job of getting our football philosophy across to young players and helping develop their skills in the Spurs way.

“I am a firm believer in developing young players and I have no doubt that everyone who took part in the clinic today will come away having learned something.”

It forms part of our continued grassroots work in the US, where Tottenham Hotspur currently has youth partner clubs set up in Tallahassee, Florida, and El Cerrito, California.

Both youth partner clubs have the benefit of a member of the Tottenham Hotspur Global Coaching team based with them full-time to oversee player development, using methods developed at the Club’s Academy back in London.
