The creation of opportunities for young people from all parts of the community to improve their football skills and gain satisfaction from the game falls under the role of Football in the Community at Tottenham Hotspur.
FITC has been working with McDonald’s on a number of coaching schemes in the local area. Since the scheme was launched last season, local children’s involvement in grass roots football has been significantly increased. The partnership between McDonald’s and Tottenham Hotspur has enabled FITC to increase the number of schools reached by the scheme to 120, with a larger catchment area in London, Essex and Hertfordshire.
The partnership has also led to the establishment of special McDonald’s Master Classes, allowing schools in the local area to nominate a team of high achievers to go along to special coaching sessions at White Hart Lane. This element of the initiative provides the opportunity for those who perform well at basic grass roots level to move up the sports development continuum into areas of excellence.
"McDonald’s is proud to be associated with Tottenham Hotspur FITC, and we are keen to do everything possible to support community football activity at the club."
Ashley Clarke, McDonald’s Regional Marketing and Communications Manager.
