Michel Vorm celebrates the achievements of graduates at the Lane

Posted on 3 November 2014  - 12:17

Michel Vorm joined students graduating from Tottenham Hotspur Foundation’s FdA Applied Sport and Community Development degree programme at a special ceremony at White Hart Lane.

The goalkeeper presented 17 graduates with degree certificates, following their completion of the two year course.

Over 64 per cent of students passed the foundation degree with a Merit or above and celebrated their achievements alongside their families at a champagne reception and two–course meal held at the stadium.

Special awards were handed out during the ceremony including the Programme Leader’s Recognition Award and Tottenham Hotspur Foundation’s Chief Executive’s Award for Outstanding Contribution.

On completion of the foundation degree, many graduates opt to continue their studies to complete a BA or BSc degree at Middlesex University, whilst others go straight into employment.

Tottenham Hotspur was the first Premier League Club to offer a foundation degree programme to students through Tottenham Hotspur Foundation. Since it launched in 2010, the courses have been steadily growing in popularity. The Foundation prides itself on its unique and personal approach to Higher Education and was recently commended for six areas of good practice including student support and high quality work placements.

Up to 60 students each year are given the opportunity to study on one of two foundation degree programmes: FdA Applied Sport and Community Development and FdSc Applied Football Coaching and Performance.

Michel Vorm said: “It’s been great to meet the students here today and recognise their achievements. I wish them all the luck in the future for whatever path they choose to take next.”

Speaking at the graduation, Grant Cornwell, CEO of Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, said: “The students here today have worked tirelessly over past two years and I’m very pleased to be marking their successes at the ceremony.

“Creating opportunities that change lives is at the forefront of everything we do. Some of these graduates have already had a number of positive opportunities open up for them as a result of the degree programme.”

The next foundation degree open day will be on February, 16, 2015. For more information about studying on one of the foundation degree courses at Tottenham Hotspur Foundation please visit www.tottenhamhotspur.com/foundationdegree
