Our assistant boss was involved in a furious row with the Saints boss in front of a packed main stand at St Marys last season.
Assistant boss John said: "I would be telling a lie if it didn't have an extra edge, because it does. It's my old club, there are people there I know well and me and Gordon always seem to have a little ding-dong on the touchline.
"I was watching him the other night and he's so enthusiastic it's unbelievable. He had a suit on and at one time he threw his jacket on the ground.
"Every game I'm involved against him, and we actually get on well, but we always have a bit of a slanging match. We are both the same, we want our teams to win and have the same passion about the game.
"The way his team played against Chelsea epitomises what he stands for. They were very organised, work hard, play with a lot of determination and played some good football."
John Gorman expects another touchline 'ding-dong' with his old adversary Gordon Strachan when Southampton come to the Lane this afternoon.
