Gorman: Chance to restore pride

Posted on 25 April 2003  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Another day, another team from Manchester, a chance to restore some pride - John Gorman's thoughts going into Sunday's cracker against United.

Our assistant boss insisted last Friday's display and defeat against the Blue half of Manchester 'just wasn't us' and is determined to show what we're all about against the men from Old Trafford.

We took a step in the right direction with victory against West Brom on Monday and now the big one - a televised encounter with United after the title.

"If we put in the type of performance that we did agaist Arsenal - that's what we aim to do, to give the fans their pride," said John.

"Last Friday just wasn't us. It was against the other team from Manchester and now we've got United and we hope to see the real us again.

"If we are not at our best, United will beat us so we aim to be at our best and give the fans back a lot of the pride we lost last week.

"The best way to play them is to have a right go at them, pride and passion.

"We're looking forward to it. We had a bad day at the office here last time and we intend to put it right on Sunday."
