Defender ‘Bunje’ was outstanding in that memorable night at Goodison Park where he continued with an ankle injury as we held on for a draw with nine men.
Unfortunately, the injury ruled him out of the Blackburn game but he hopes to be ready to face Southampton this weekend.
“The feeling I got after the Everton game was incredible. I can’t describe it,” said the Yugoslavian star. “Duncan Ferguson was a very big, strong guy up front and this was a great experience for me.
“I had my ankle strapped for the second half but it was disaster, two men sent off and it wasn’t the time to say ‘my ankle is hurting’ so I played the game.
“I felt very bad but we got a good result and it was worth it.
“The injury is okay now I hope. I have trained every day with my physio and I feel well now. I still have to do some work with the ball but I hope to do that on Thursday and be ready for Sunday.”
Goran says a victory against the Saints is vital.
He added: “It was especially disappointing for me to pick up the injury because we were so confident after that game against Everton, we played so well with nine men and hoped to play well at Blackburn.
“The first team had so much spirit. But the injury was bad, I missed that game, we lost and now we must beat Southampton because we soon have a lot of great game against the likes of Chelsea, United, great teams. I hope to be ready for Southampton.”
Goran Bunjevcevic is hoping to pick up on Sunday where he left off at Everton last month.
