The defender points out that, due to the busy preparation schedule, Jacques Santini has mixed his teams and awarded run outs to younger members of the squad.
With the Italians arriving for our only home friendly of pre-season, Goran suspects a more familiar line-up will take to the field on Saturday.
"It has been hard for the coach because we have had so many games and it has been difficult for him to pick the team he is going to play against Liverpool," he reasoned.
"He has tried to mix it in each game and has still been doing that. Against Cagliari I would expect the best team to play and then we will see. Some of the lads will be playing at home for the first time.
"We then play Celtic before having two very hard games to open the season - Liverpool and Newcastle. If we get a good start it will make things easier for us. I don't care about the early pre-season results, they are not important, what is important is that we develop as a team from game to game.
"It is better for us to make sure we get a result against Liverpool, but we want to win against Cagliari and go from there."
One player in the Cagliari cast familiar to all is the diminutive figure of Gianfranco Zola, who returned to his home town club from Chelsea at the beginning of last season.
Goran is certainly an admirer of the former Italian international. "He is not only one of the best players, but one of the best sportsmen," he added. "A really, really nice guy who has scored so many great goals. He is a player you can really admire.
"As the years progressed he just seemed to enjoy his football. Zola is like Baggio and Sheringham and can play for years and years because he has great vision.
"It will be nice to play against him and it will be a great game against Cagliari."
Goran Bunjevcevic says he expects the team to begin taking shape as we enter the business end of pre-season against Cagliari at the Lane on Saturday.
