The FA Premier Reserve League clash at Selhurst Park couldn't come around quickly enough after the shock of the 5-0 home defeat against Southampton last Monday.
Coach Clive Allen was, like most people who have seen his side this season, at a loss for words after what was such a disappointing display at Stevenage Borough.
He's studied the evidence in the last few days and is now looking to put matters right.
"We've talked a lot this week but as everyone knows it's not about talking, it's about performing," he said.
"We've talked about the levels of performance we've achieved, how we weren't near what we were capable of and the result of that was that we were on the end of a real hiding.
"The boys know that and they were disappointed last week, I was and I'm sure I will get the right response.
"They've worked very hard because they know last week was nowhere near the standards we've set ourselves.
"It didn't feel good and we want to get back to what we produced before Christmas. It takes hard work, they've done that in training and now we've got to take it into the game."
Our reserve group have found it's been good to talk as they bid to put last week's nightmare behind them at Palace tonight.
