Dimitar Berbatov and Jermaine Jenas were the names on the scoresheet - both during the opening period - but it was the performance of the team as a whole that was key for the captain on the evening.
"It certainly was a good night," said the 26-year-old. "The football we played at times was exceptional - especially in the first half. We showed the way we want to play football and getting the early goal helped us.
"Getting the second one capped it off, although we wanted a few more it wasn't to be. Overall we are delighted with the performance."
Robbie went on to salute the character of the team for continuing to react to setbacks in the right way.
"We feel much better about ourselves, we were down after Bolton, but we managed to pick ourselves back up and put in a great performance.
"We never let our heads drop, we proved it last season and must do the same thing again."
Robbie Keane hailed a good night's football at the Lane where our first points of the season were won at the expence of Sheffield United.
