The towering central defender has missed out on the games so far in 2004 and reports that the injury appears to have cleared up sufficiently for him to resume training with the squad.
"It's going well now and the calf seems to be healed," revealed Dean. "It needs a bit of strengthening work and I should be back in training this week. Touch wood, it should be okay now."
Dean took a succession of knocks and bumps in the Charlton encounter, culminating in a painful vault over the advertising hoardings behind the goal. One of those games...
"It was, I picked up a few knocks in that game! This injury was quite late in the game when I went in for a tackle and felt something was wrong, but I wasn't sure if it was just a kick. It turned out to be a tear and the worse of the two really.
"I've been outside with the physios now for the last couple of days and will be with them tomorrow again. I'll be looking to join in on Thursday with the lads."
Dean Richards hopes to be able to return to full training on Thursday after recovering from the calf tear he sustained against Charlton over the festive period.
