Good Neighbour

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

The preparation is over — our Under-17s are ready for their first steps into the FA Premier Academy League.
The new intake of boys have shaped up well in the summer and now face a long trip to Wrexham in their opener on Saturday.
And who better to lead them into their new world than Jimmy Neighbour, who trod the same path at the club as a youngster — albeit a few years ago — and will know exactly what they are going through
“The lads are doing okay,” said Jimmy. “There are some nice lads in there and we’re all looking forward to the season.
“I’ve been with these lads before, when they were Under-15s, so I know a lot about them. Things are going well, they are working hard and hopefully when the season starts they’ll be ready to go.
“A few played for the Under-17s a year early, which was great and gave them great experience. They have worked hard, there are some very good players out there and hopefully we’ll see that continued development over the next two years.”
Unfortunately, Jim has seen injuries to key players disrupt his pre-season plans.
“I’ve had one or two injuries to key players,” he explained. “That’s made it a little difficult at times. Danny Foster, who is an England international, Marcel McKie, another England international, have missed out and we’re looking forward to getting them back.
“Bristol City was our final friendly (they won 3-2 the weekend) and we’ve been looking at fitness and patterns of play and getting used to the set up and then the important stuff starts, away to Wrexham in the first game.
“It’s a tough place to go but if they are going to progress that is the sort of environment they have to go and play in.”
So what are this season’s targets? “No targets,” added Jim. “I don’t like that for kids of this age, it’s a bit unfair on them.
“They are still in the development stage. All I’m looking for is for them to improve and if they do that again this year and I can pass them on to Pat Holland next year as an improved team, then I will feel like we’ve done a good job.”
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
