Heurelho Gomes is looking forward to a third-successive summer in South Africa.
The goalkeeper was there in 2009 as part of Brazil’s winning squad for the FIFA Confederations Cup and back again with Brazil for last summer’s World Cup.
Now he’ll make it a hat-trick as we take our place in the Vodacom Challenge later this month against newly-crowned South African champions Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.
“First of all, the people are so friendly and they love football,” said Gomes.
“They love to be at the stadium and as everyone knows from the World Cup, the atmosphere is special, a lot different to other countries.
“It’s a great atmosphere to play football in.
“The stadiums are also fantastic and South Africa did very well for the World Cup. The feeling for the game there is unbelievable.
“I think it will be ideal preparation for us and we have to be ready for the start of the season.
“We know it will be tougher than ever because everyone knows about Tottenham now and what we can do.”
We kick-off the Vodacom Challenge against the Chiefs on Saturday, July 16 before facing the Pirates on Tuesday, July 19.
The Chiefs and Pirates tackle each other on Thursday, July 21 and we then take on the winners of that match in the final on Saturday, July 23.
