Heurelho Gomes believes we will get a taste of Samba football tonight as we step up our pre-season preparations against Benfica.
The Brazilian goalkeeper explains how so many of his fellow countrymen are attracted to the Portuguese game, with their unique brand of football quickly influencing the teams.
This is certainly the case at Benfica, who have no less than 10 Brazilians in their squad, and it is for this reason why Gomes feels the match will be an ideal test for us with the new season less than a fortnight away.
And having won their domestic league convincingly last season, tonight's opponents are set to be a force to be reckoned with during the upcoming Champions League campaign.
Gomes said: "I know a lot of players at Benfica. Luisao and Ramires played with me at Cruzeiro and in the Brazil national squad.
"They have some very good players and are a good side. Everybody knows Benfica in Brazil because they pick up a lot of Brazilian players.
"It's good for Brazilian players to go and play in Portugal because it's the same language and it's a great opportunity to come to Europe and play for a big club like Benfica."
He continued: "When you have a chance to play in the group stages of the Champions League, we need a game like this against Benfica. It's good for us and we can take the experience of playing against a team like this into the Champions League."
