Glenn's Magpie call

Posted on 24 January 2003  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Glenn Hoddle says that success in our forthcoming game against Newcastle is vital to our aspirations of achieving European football - and calls on the fans to play their part.

Two wins in a row against Everton and Aston Villa have put the team firmly back on the Euro-track, a stage which Glenn describes as a 'starting point' with the challenge of Newcastle and Chelsea to come.

The Magpies sit third in the Premiership, seven points ahead of us, while Chelsea have a three-point advantage.

"It's a starting point," said the boss of our recent six-point haul. "We've got a big game coming up, it isn't for a little while, but it is Newcastle at home.

"We've got to take advantage - we played well up there and could have had a share of the spoils or even more.

"They are a threat, I saw them at West Ham and West Ham should have beaten them. If we perform well we can do it.

"It is one of those nights where I feel - they are third in the league - if we've got aspirations of getting into Europe we have to win it.

"Our supporters have got to be up for the fight as well as the team will be. It is an important game for us."
