Glenn Hoddle admits it was a 'masssive bonus' that Gus Poyet's injury in the summer wasn't as bad as first feared.
Many believed the midfielder was set for most of the season on the sidelines when he complained of a knee problem after our friendly against Gillingham in July.
But fears of a cruciate ligament problem were allayed and Gus returned to the starting line-up at Liverpool last week.
Now he's back in the spotlight as we prepare for another clash against his former club Chelsea on Sunday.
Glenn said: "Gus has just come back from a long-term injury, is back in the team and has done well.
"It comes at a time when we're playing Chelsea, ironic, isn't it. I'm sure he's looking forward to it.
"He's a good lad, great professional, great player. It was sad when we first heard that he might have an cruciate ligament but it wasn't, just a cartilage.
"It's a massive bonus to have him back because we thought we would lose him for six or seven months. That was a positive story for us."
