Glenn's appeal

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Glenn Hoddle has reiterated his appeal via his programme notes for fans to raise the roof against Chelsea tonight.

The boss says he is relying on fans to make the Worthington Cup semi-final second leg 'a special atmosphere' but makes it clear that they will do the club no favours by allowing that support to 'go over the top'.

He writes: "Tonight is obviously a big night for this club. And I am relying on you all to make it a special atmosphere. We want you to raise the roof with your support because we have had some marvellous cup nights at the Lane over the years and we want you to make this another one to remember.

"In saying that you won't be doing us any favours if you allow your support to go over the top. We want you to keep the passion and to play your part as a key member of our team.

"But throwing missiles is out. It is dangerous and could lead to you being banned from here for life. It does not help our players and tarnishes this great club's good name. Do you really want all that?

"In fact we are asking you all to be responsible by reporting any culprits to the nearest steward. This kind of misbehaviour is slowly returning to the game and we have to work together to stop it. In essence please don't let us down at a time when we need your support so much."
