We made it seven wins out of seven in pre-season in Keith Stevens’ Testimonial in front of over 16,000 fans at the New Den.
It was our most competitive summer outing so far with plenty of tackles flying around and, having gone into the lead via Sergei Rebrov and Les Ferdinand, Millwall hit back put us on the defensive in the latter stages.
Boss Glenn said: “We got a bit sloppy and switched off, they threw caution to the wind but I was quite pleased that happened because we had to deal with it.
“I thought it was a foul on our keeper for the goal but it was good to see a bit of character shown.
“There are new players at the club and we have to find out if they have character as well as skill.
“When you come to Millwall, with the crowd like that as well, it’s always going to be lively. In many respects it was a good game for us.
“There will be plenty of games this season when it’s going to be a bit spicy but we kept our heads and I was pleased with the attitude.
“But the priority is still fitness. Everyone played 90 minutes at Reading as well and it’s time to do that.
“We took Sergei off at half-time and that was the only change we made. He is okay, he had a couple of nasty whacks in the first half so we took him off.
“If it was a Premiership game he would have played on but we took him off to protect him.
“There are a few knocks and bruises down there but we hope they are not too serious because we have games on Tuesday and Wednesday.”
