Liverpool’s German full-back Christian Ziege is the latest name to be linked with a move to the Lane alongside more headlines on Saturday suggesting that Teddy Sheringham was on his way back and a fee had been agreed for Barcelona’s French star Emmanuel Petit.
But Glenn responded: “People can link as many players as they want to link.
“We’ll go about our business and earmark the players we want to bring in. I’ll say no more than that. It’s interesting to watch what names we’re linked with at the moment.”
Asked if a fee had been a fee agreed for Petit, Glenn retorted: “Have I said there is a deal going on?
“We’ve got a number of players we’re trying to communicate with and when I sign them I’ll let you know.”
Glenn reiterated that he saw his job starting for real when players return for pre-season training on July 1.
He added: “It’s been difficult coming in and if I’d had half the treatment room out there, just five players, we would have had more points on the board.
“It would have been a difficult task anyway trying to get new ideas across but the job starts for me on July 1 when we return to pre-season training and we shape things up.
“I would hope that we have new players by then but you never know in this game. It’s difficult to get players these days. I would hope we have players by then though.”
Glenn Hoddle refuses to be drawn on the transfer speculation surrounding the club at the moment.
