The boss says this is not a recent development and the club have been working towards securing the Spanish international for some weeks.
"At the moment we're in negotiations with Real Madrid and that's about as much as we can say on that side," reported Glenn, who insists that Morientes is one on his list of striking possibilities.
"We wouldn't be where we are if we didn't think there was the possibility of him coming, it's the same as any other player.
"He's on the list, along with other players that we're working towards.
"We're a bit disappointed, we've been working on this for six or seven weeks with nothing said and it has suddenly got out.
"That's unfortunate, but it is the way of the world.
"We are totally genuine. If it happens it happens, if it doesn't I know where I want to go after that.
"I've got a list of players who are possibilities - sometimes you get what you want in life and sometimes you don't. You have to keep shopping if the groceries have run out and go to the next one."
It has been reported that any deal for Morientes could hinge on Ronaldo arriving at Real from Inter Milan. Glenn says he doesn't feel this potential development has any bearing on Morientes.
"To be quite honest, we've been talking for six or seven weeks and I don't think Ronaldo comes into the scenario, quite frankly."
Glenn confirmed that negotiations with Real Madrid are continuing over the possible transfer of striker Fernando Morientes to Spurs.
