Glenn hungry for cup feast

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Glenn Hoddle insists we have to show 'hunger and desire' to overcome Tranmere Rovers in the Worthington Cup tonight.

Rovers have taken seven Premiership scalps in cup competitions in the last two seasons including, famously, coming from 3-0 down to beat Glenn's Southampton side 4-3 in the FA Cup last season.

Of course, Glenn has been reminded more than once of that encounter as he prepares to return to Prenton Park.

"Football brings up little things like that," he said. "Our major factor here is that it is a very big game for us and we've got to go up there vigilant of the fact that they are a good cup side and this will be a tough game for us.

"I think we can get through but we will have to put a strong, mental attitude on and we have to be hungrier than them.

"We can realistically say that we've got a good chance of going all the way in this cup and we have to show that hunger, that desire, to go up there, perform and get into the next round.

"We know we are a better than them on paper and a better side technically but we have to go out and prove that. We have to earn the right to bring the ball down and play against these teams.

"That is the challenge and I'm sure it will be a good cup tie. The boys are positive."

Spurs are 11/2 to win 2-0 with 11/1 on a 3-0 triumph - click for details.
