Dean Richards was unveiled this afternoon as our latest recruit in an £8.1 million switch from Southampton
After protracted discussions ‘Deano’ has signed a four-year deal, finally donned a Spurs tracksuit and travelled with the rest of the squad to Liverpool — although he will not make his debut at Anfield tomorrow.
“He’s improved as a player over the last two seasons very quickly and we’ve caught him now, at 27-years-old, just hitting his peak,” said Glenn. “And I think there is room for improvement again for Dean.
“He’s come into a big club and a club where we’re hoping that the ambitions are going to be bigger and bigger.
“I think he’s capable of adapting to that, capable of improving and showing people at Tottenham that he’s a very good centre-half.
“I believe if he continues to show the improvement he’s had over the last two years, if he shows it again in the next couple of years he can be knocking on the door of the England squad.
“I really believe he has that ability. He’ll take some time to adjust but I think it’s there for him, it’s a challenge for him and that will bring him on as a player.”
Glenn Hoddle has got his man — and he believes he can go on to play for England.
