GIRLS FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT

Posted on 25 October 2002  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Our Football in the Community scheme has been developing a Girls Football Coaching Programme over the last few months to offer young female players a coordinated programme of quality coaching and competitions enabling them to progress and realise their potential.

School Coaching
A coordinated programme of quality coaching to increase the number of girls entering the sport at grass roots level has been initiated. Girls from Northumberland Park Secondary School visit our indoor ball court for their PE lesson for coaching twice a week. An after school club is also run every week at the school.

Regional Coaching Courses
Evening courses have been set up to run throughout the year at various venues across North London to provide enhanced coaching opportunities for talented young girls. Two courses in Southgate and Finchley have just ended and went extremely well. The course at the Finchley venue will re-start on November 7. The course is open to girls aged 8-14 of any ability. To receive more information please call 020 8365 5049.

Girls Tournaments
The FITC Scheme is committed to providing competition opportunities to introduce young girls to organised football. Two tournaments have been arranged to involve 12 schools from the local area. Schools have been invited to select a team to put forward in the competition which will be held at White Hart Lane under the supervision of our FA qualified coaches.
