The Brazilian international has been featuring heavily for our Reserve side in recent weeks in a bid to build up his match fitness, and it paid dividends in Saturday’s Barclays Premier League clash with Bolton Wanderers.
And to make things even better for the left-back, it came as a late birthday present after he turned 32 the day before!
Gilberto said: "It feels good and I’m very happy. It’s my first 90 minutes after three months at the Club and I thought I played well. I think I can play better, but there’s two more matches left of the season and hopefully I can play both of them.
“I’ve played four times for the Reserves and it was good for me because I played the full 90 minutes each time and it helped my fitness.
“But to play 90 minutes was great for me, especially because it was my birthday the day before, so it was like a gift for me!”

In terms of the game itself, the January signing added: “Bolton were very defensive and the manager told us to attack them. I put in three or four crosses in the first half and I played more defensive in the second half.
Gilberto was delighted after completing his first 90 minutes of first-team action since joining the Club, and is now hoping to build on this in the final two games of the season.
