The Brazilian international and January capture from German side Hertha Berlin has yet to feature as he's been out with a calf injury.
However, the defender looks set to come into the squad for Thursday night's UEFA Cup Round of 16 first leg at the Lane. The second leg is in Eindhoven next Wednesday, March 12.
Gilberto has been back in full training - so does he have a chance? "Yes, he has a chance because he's now at a good fitness level, he's trained hard for the last 10 days and has joined in fully with the team," reported Marcos.
"We think he is now fit for Thursday."

In fact, Gilberto hasn't played since last year as the Bundesliga's winter break kicked-off on December 16. "He is a player with a lot of experience and this hasn't been a problem for him," added Marcos.
Further good news is sees Michael Dawson back in full training after picking up a hamstring injury at Derby County on February 9 - a problem that ruled him out of the Carling Cup Final.
"Like Gilberto, he has trained well and he works very hard in training," said Marcos. "He's also now fit and he has trained at a high pace.
"For us, now is the most important part of the season. We want to go through to the next stage of the UEFA Cup and improve in the league and it's better to have every player fit. That means the competition is high and it's important that every player has that competition to stay in the first 11."
