Martin Jol says we're right on track in terms of pre-season preparations and strengthening the squad for next season.

The lads returned to Spurs Lodge on Thursday following eight days of tough training in France and three friendly wins out of three against Bordeaux, Nice and Celta Vigo.

Having dealt early to secure the signings of Bulgarian hitman Dimitar Berbatov and highly-rated full-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto, they have spent the last few weeks getting to know their team-mates, and Didier Zokora, the midfielder who impressed so much for Ivory Coast in the World Cup, joins up with us on Monday.

Two younger signings – French Under-20 skipper Dorian Dervite and Czech striker Tomas Pekhart – have also arrived at Spurs Lodge and Dorian has already opened his account for our Spurs XI team.

Boss Martin said: “Dimitar and Benoit travelled to France for our pre-season training camp and were able to start their integration into the squad and Didier arrives on Monday after playing in the World Cup. It means we’ll have time to work with these players before the start of the Premiership campaign.

“Dimitar and Benoit have both settled well and we’re all looking forward to welcoming Didier into the squad.

“The lads all worked very hard in France and it was tough for them in the heat and altitude.

“The fitness comes first but we also want to win our games and you could see that in the friendly against Celta Vigo. They were tired but determined to win.â€Â

Sporting Director Damien Comolli added: “Martin and I are always looking to increase his playing options and to plan ahead. We know what we want, but I also know Martin feels it is key to only bring in players who really want to be part of what he is building here.â€Â

Martin added: “As always at this time of the summer transfer rumours are rife and I would ask our supporters not to take too much notice, but rather to rely on our web for official news.â€Â
