Germany, Ireland through

Posted on 11 June 2002  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Group E came to a conclusion with Christian Ziege's Germany clinching top spot after a 2-0 win over Cameroon in Shizuoka, while for Ireland it was Mission Accomplished with a 3-0 triumph over Saudi Arabia.

Both nations did more than was required, Ireland needed a 2-0 victory, while Germany needed a draw.

German hopes took an early blow when Carsten Ramelow was dismissed in the first half, but Marco Bode settled the nerves early in the second half. Miroslav Klose completed the scoring and Patick Suffo levelled the sending off count.

Germany are now likely to encounter either South Africa or Paraguay in round two.
