Aaron Lennon said his selection in England's World Cup squad has yet to really sink in.

The flying winger was rewarded for his stunning progress over the last few months with a boarding pass for the flight to Germany and, even though his inclusion was tipped by many in the media, Aaron himself was not getting carried away with the speculation.

"It has been a massive season for me and getting into the squad is unbelievable," said the 19-year-old who joined last summer from Leeds United. "I never expected it - even on Monday - and it rounds off the season nicely for me.

"It has been brilliant.

"Even when it was being suggested in the papers I didn't really believe it. I thought I might have a chance, but I have now been picked for the squad," added Aaron, who then revealed how he received the news of his selection.

"Someone from the FA called me at about quarter past two and it still hasn't really sunk in now. My phone didn't stop ringing after that with everyone phoning to congratulate me and it has all been amazing."
